HealthTextiles presented an innovative patented fabric at UPPSTART 2024

UPPSTART, celebrating its tenth year, has established itself as a significant platform for tech startups to meet investors and expand their networks, both within Sweden and internationally. With over 100 investors present, 25 entrepreneurs had the opportunity to present their ideas and innovations to a qualified audience, hoping to secure investments for their companies.

During the evening, 25 startups had the chance to deliver a brief, intense pitch on stage before the investors. These companies represented various sectors, from AI to healthtech and impact. Between the presentations, there were Q&A sessions and networking opportunities.

The selection criteria for the invited companies were that they actively seek capital in the early stages, such as Seed or Series A, and have products focusing on AI, healthtech, or Impact. This means that a company, in its early development stage, is seeking external funding to drive its operations forward. Seed stage involves seeking capital to develop the business idea, while Series A financing comes later when the company has a functioning product and aims to scale up its operations.

The founder of UPPSTART, Jason Dainter, kicked off the evening by showcasing photos from the first digitally adapted pandemic event, a large-scale tech conference with over 1400 participants. All with the same underlying goal: to assist tech startups in meeting investors. Over the years, UPPSTART has helped thousands of tech startups connect with active investors in Sweden and around the world.

-The feedback from this year’s event has been pouring in, both from startups and investors who say they’ve found great matches, says Jason Dainter.

An example of successful funding through UPPSTART is WeHype, which secured its first investment at the event in 2016 and has since expanded to generate 150 million SEK in revenue, establishing a presence in both Uppsala and New York.

-We are both proud and honored to once again be selected to pitch HealthTextiles at UPPSTART, shares Tomas Persson. It’s especially important for us as we are currently in the midst of an ongoing new funding round where we recently secured a leading female business angel as an investor. Right now, we are also preparing for market establishment in Sweden and abroad, with naturally antibacterial period panties in our patented TorTex fabric. This is done with a focus on women’s health in collaboration with our customer, Monthly of Sweden.

With Uppsala Municipality as a long-term partner and with such positive results from UPPSTART, the future looks bright for HealthTextiles and other innovative companies. These meetings and networking opportunities can prove to be crucial for many startups, especially in uncertain economic times.”
